An Achievement

My little Roo managed to keep the same pair of pants on for the whole day! This is a first in his not-so-brief history of potty training. May it be the first of many.

And Tiffany is guest CT at RAKScraps again for her school summer holidays. Her layout and review will be posted for our August Designer Highlight tomorrow.

Thinking of You Card

Yet another with sympathy/ thinking of you card. I've another 2 of these to do, but I think I need a little break. The next card needs to be bright and cheerful or I'll start getting depressed.
This week's sketch from Sketch and Stash, and this weeks DU2DS challenge have provided me with the inspiration I needed for this card.

For my neglected stash - I found this raggy edged handmade card and envelope at the bottom of my stash box. That's got to have been there longer than I've been married!

For my new stash - my new X-Cut Impress Tool, OK not quiet stash, but it's new.

The DU2DS challenge is to mix distressing with a digital image. So I used some white core card from my stash, and sanded it after embossing. I used the rose digi stamp I won in a previous DU2DS challenge again, for this card. You can't see it very well on this photo, but the rose image, and the text tab are layered with 3D foam pads.

Another Sympathy Card

I used my new toys to make this card. I embossed some white core card using my new X-Cut and then rubbed with an emery board for a shabby look. Mojo Monday's sketch for this week provided the layout inspiration.

Sympathy Card

I'm going to be making a few more sympathy cards this week, as more friends have suffered bereavements. DU2DS's sketch challenge for this week has helped me with this card - thank you. The papers are Toucan Scraps, and the rose is one of the Digi-Stamps that I won from last weeks DU2DS challenge coloured with blending crayons. The stamp is from Sketching Stamper.

My Birthday Pressies and an Adventure

I had a great Birthday yesterday. Thank you to everyone who sent me Birthday wishes. Here is piccy of my pressies. Those will keep me and my crafting apprentices busy for the summer school holidays.

The rain held of just long enough for us to have a great family adventure at the Black Country Museum in Dudley. The moment we switched on the car engine to come back home the rain poured down - now that's great timing.

Today is

My birthday!
Daniel's taken the day off work, and if the rain can stop for long enough we intend to go out for the day on one of our adventures.

Oh my goodness - I'm a Finalist

I entered my Altered Storage jar project into a recycling contest at Trimcraft. And I'm one of 6 Finalists. The forum members vote on which project should win. So if you are a Trimcraft member (or want to be), please pop along and vote for the winner here.

Cake in a Wrap

I like to put the "Special" into special diets. I baked one of my famous chocolate cakes on Saturday. I know a girl that has recently been diagnosed with gluten allergy, and is struggling with the change to a gluten free diet. So I wrapped up a large piece to give her as a gift at church yesterday.
I took inspiration for my design from this weeks SC Saturday Challenge. The challenge is to follow a recipe:
3 buttons, 2 design papers, 1 ribbon.

A few changes coming.

I'm in discussions at the moment to join a store as a digital scrapbooking and craft printables designer. I've a lot of work to do before I'll be ready to sign-up though.

I'm changing my design name. Currently I design under my name "Angela Coles". There are so many Angela's and Coles' Designers that googling for me would take forever. BUT according to google there is only one "Toucan Scraps" - that's me! So I will be designing as Toucan Scraps only from now on.

For the next few months my previews will carry both names as people get used to the change. My file naming convention is also going to change. I currently use AColes_kit_element. This is changing to ToucanS-kit_element.

I won!

I won last week's DU2DS challenge! I've won my choice of digi stamp sets from 2 stores. Looking forward to playing with them. Thank you.

Chair Design

A digital scrapbooking designer I know, Sarah, has entered a contest to design some chairs! She's asking for votes and offering to put folks who vote for her in a prize draw. Her designs are lovely.

Where is that Stair Gate?

Unfortunately I think it might be in our Storage Unit the other end of town. I'll have to ask Daniel to go and get it soon. Tisha was attempting to climb the stairs 10 mins ago. She was letting go before being fully mounted on the bottom step and falling off. Won't be long now.

New Stash

Look what the postman brought me today! This stash of mixed fibres came from Texere Yarns. They are called Variety packs, and are great for embroidery, small crotchet (or knitting) projects and paper crafts too!

2 Boxes

I'm experimenting at the moment with different styles of favour boxes (prep work for an upcoming family wedding). This week's Project Tuesday challenge is a sour cream carton shaped favour box. Both myself and TJ have made a box.

TJs's first:

I grabbed inspiration from 3 more challenges for my box:

I found this tutorial today for making scented cards.

Bag Tags

I helped my daughter make some bag tags for her school teachers and the teaching assistant that looks after her for her medical special needs. Tomorrow is the last day of school term 7 weeks of school summer holidays ahead of us. She is in a large play-based learning class of 73 children and 4 teachers at the moment. For the next school year they are being divided into 3 smaller classes as the more academic learning commences. This project was inspired by last week's Project Tuesday challenge.

Spoon Feeding Herself

July Megakit

The July Megakit has now been released and is free until the end of the month to RAKScraps Members. (Membership is free, if you are joining to get this kit please quote AngelaUK as your referrer.) The theme is summer fun and the beach. So I took my inspiration from our holiday in Wales, I called it High Tide.

Another Birthday Card

It's Daniel's brother-in-law's birthday at the weekend. Need to get hold of his new postal address though to send this card - I've heard that they've had to move and I can't find any record of the new addy.
Oh well, this is the card I have created for him. I got inspiration from the SC Saturday Challenge Sketch. And Papertake Weekly are encouraging folks to use their favourite things. Well my favourite stamp range is Daisy and Dandelion, Roo's favourites are the Elephants Pickles & Onion. So I couldn't resist picking up this cute stamp of Onion playing football.

Sports Day

Blogger wouldn't let me in last night. Yesterday was TJ's First Sports Day. They did the old egg and spoon, skipping, running, jumping, hopping, beanbags on heads and thrown into hoops and also space hoppers! They scheduled the foundation class's sports day before the older ones, and they were "practicing" races rather than actually having races. So no winners, but the kids had lots of fun. My little girl was my little winner.

Prize Draw Win

Faith True held a prize draw on her blog for the launch of a new collaborative kit she created with MLE Card, called The Moral of the Story. I won! I used my prize for this layout. I couldn't resist photographing and scrapping my little Roo "reading" to his baby sister. As usual clicking on the image will take you to a larger version, with full credits, in my gallery.

Another Freebie

When I was scrapping about my baby's first words I found that my absolutely huge scrapbooking stock was missing most of the items I needed. So after making them and adding them to my bits and bobs folder I found I had enough stuff to give you another freebie. I called it "Di-der", my little treasure's word for dinner. Sorry this download has now expired.

Brother's Birthday Card

It's my brother's birthday at the end of the week. I had a spare hour this afternoon so spent some time browsing craft sites and challenge blogs for some inspiration to make him a card.
  • The current TrimCraft challenge is to use ribbons on a project
  • And the Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge are encouraging people to use 3 ribbons.
  • Sketch and Stash have a lovely sketch this week that has inspired the shape and layout of my card. They encourage folks to use some neglected stash and suggested an animal theme.
  • Do Craft's weekly challenge is to use tears. Ummm tears & animal - how about lion?
  • Digital Tuesday's Summertime theme inspired the colour scheme and it is a summer birthday after all.
  • Dare U 2 Digi Stamp's challenge this week is to mix embossing with a digital image. Digital - now that suits me down to a tee. Ummm My dry embossing powders are somewhat neglected stash too.
  • And finally C.R.A.F.T. invited me to explore decoupage. Well digital images are perfect for decoupage - print multiple copies of the image, cut and layer up.

So by the time I got to the end of that list I was well inspired and put this card together. The card stock is double sided with a small blue print inside.

After trawling through previews on a piracy site a little while ago. I noticed that the previews with Designer Tags on were much easier to identify. And if there is a tag with store or blog details on it is much easier to find the designer.

So I've had a little go at designing my own designer tags. What do you think?

Did you find it?

I think I mentioned in a previous post that I was interviewed for the July RAKScraps Newsletter. Well hidden inside my interview is this free kit I made for you all. The link is only in the on-line version of the newsletter (it missed the pdf version unfortunately).
Hint: for my loyal followers I have a little hint. I created this kit exclusively with a new product that I have reviewed. The review was inserted into my interview.

Thinking of You Card

A dear friend has just lost her Father, so I've created this card for her. Many thanks to the Dare U" Digi Stamp Friday Challenge for the sketch I used to create this. I flipped the sketch on it's side.

I used the 3Scrapateers Club July Kits for this card which has been submitted to the July Card givers Challenge I am hosting.
